Everything citizens need to know about the “PARMENION 25” exercise
On Wednesday 1 October, Civil Defence sirens will be activated throughout the country, as part of the large-scale military exercise “PARMENION 25”.
The EL.AS. clarifies that this is exclusively a test procedure and there is no reason for citizens to worry. The aim is to ensure the operational readiness of the system and the proper functioning of the sirens.
At the same time, bells will ring in the country’s churches, with continuous short three-minute chimes, in order to combine the control of alarm systems with traditional notification.
The “PARMENION” exercise takes place every year and is the largest interdisciplinary exercise of the Armed Forces, with the participation of all Security Forces and competent Civil Protection agencies.
The Municipality of Glyfada informs, as it should, the citizens, so as not to cause the slightest inconvenience. In detail, the sirens will sound as follows:
– 11:00 local time, air raid alert signal, for a period of (60) seconds (intermittent sound of varying intensity) throughout the Territory,
– 11:05 local time, end of alarm signal, for a period of (60) seconds (continuous sound of constant volume) in the whole Territory,
– local time 11:10, air raid alert, for a period of (60) seconds in the Northeast Sector,
– 11:15 local time, end of alarm signal, for a period of (60) seconds in the Northeast Sector,
– local time 11:20, air raid alert, for a period of (60) seconds in the South Sector,
– local time 11:25, alarm end signal, for a period of (60) seconds in the South Sector,
– 11:30 local time, a CBRN threat warning alert is issued for a period of (120) seconds in the whole Territory,
– 11:35 local time, end of alarm signal, for a period of (60) seconds in the whole Territory,
– 12:20 local time, a CBRN threat warning alert was issued for a period of (120) seconds in the West Sector,
– local time 12:25, alarm end signal, for a period of (60) seconds in the West Sector,
– 12:30 local time, an HBRP attack alarm signaled for a period of (120) seconds in the Central Sector,
– 12:35 local time, alarm end signal, for a period of (60) seconds in the Central Sector,
– local time 12:40, HBRP infestation alert, for a period of (120) seconds in the Region of Attica and the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki,
– local time 12:45, end of alarm signal, for a period of (60) seconds in the Region of Attica and the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki,
– 12:50 local time, a CBRN threat warning alert was issued for a period of (120) seconds in the East Sector,
– local time 12:55, alarm end signal, for a period of (60) seconds in the East Sector.
Citizens are asked to remain calm and to be aware that the exercise is purely a test.
