The Municipality of Glyfada is implementing, for the first time, an advanced fire detection and immediate firefighting system that fully leverages the potential of artificial intelligence. At the foot of the mountain, AI-powered thermal cameras have been installed, which automatically activate water cannon fire extinguishers upon detecting fire.

The system uses artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms based on deep learning analysis that can detect smoke or fire with 98% accuracy at a height of 40 cm. Once a fire is detected, specially connected water cannons automatically shoot water to immediately extinguish the affected area—without human intervention—while providing sufficient time for the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection teams to respond.
