Birth Certificate
Through this service, you can submit an online application for a Birth Certificate.
For certificates of registration in the municipal register, the applicant can be served by the Department of Municipal Status of the Directorate of Administration, located at Town Hall, 15 Alsos Street, 2nd floor, tel. 213 2025 241 – 247, as well as by the Citizen Service Centres.
Birth certificates are issued for any legal use.
Additionally, the department that issues birth certificates handles transfers to the Boys’ Registers of other Municipalities and issues certificates of residence.
To receive the certificate, the applicant must present their identity card. In case of loss, they may provide a photocopy of the certificate, a police certificate of loss, a passport, a driving licence, an insurance booklet, a pass, or any document bearing their photograph.
A third party may collect the certificate only with a certified authorization granted by the applicant at a police station, a Citizens Service Centre, or any other Public Service (this also applies to parents requesting certificates for their married children).
For birth certificates of minor children, parents or any legally authorised persons have the right to obtain the certificate.
Note: After the birth or baptism of a child, it is MANDATORY to register the necessary information first at the Registry Office.
Certificates requested through the Citizens Service Centres are received by the applicant within a few days.
Birth certificates can also be requested by telephone at 1502 (OTE), and in this case, they are sent by post to the applicant’s address (delivery time approximately one week).
There is also the option to issue a digitally signed certificate through the Municipality of Glyfada’s website.
