Certificate of Family Status

Through this service, you can submit an online application for a Certificate of Family Status.

Family status certificates are issued by the Municipal Status Department of the Administrative Directorate, located at City Hall, 15 Alsos Street, 2nd floor, tel. 213 2025 241 – 247, as well as by the Citizen Service Centres.

Family status certificates are issued to persons registered in the Family Section of the Municipality of Glyfada’s Municipal Register after verification of the applicant’s identity by showing his/her identity card or passport.

In case a third person applies, they must present either an authorization with a certified signature from a Citizens Service Centre (C.E.P.) or a public authority, or a Prosecutor’s order when the legal interest does not arise (Code of Administrative Procedure Law 2690/99, Article 5 §3).

– Family status certificates are not issued upon telephone requests.

Greek residents abroad are served for family status certificates through the consular authorities of the country where they reside. These authorities are obliged to request these certificates from our service on their own initiative, and the certificates are sent directly to them without third-party intervention.

Marital status certificates are NOT sent via private fax or e-mail for the following reasons:

a. To protect the personal data of applicants,

b. Because the certificate in question would be a photocopy and cannot be used officially.

Special forms required by foreign authorities are completed and accepted by the office issuing family status certificates, provided these forms are submitted to our service by the interested citizens.

Notes: All types of certificates, as well as civil registry acts, can be searched ex officio by the service under the provisions of Law 3242/2004 and Law 3448/2006 “on ex officio search” as long as the events have taken place in Greece (marriages, births, deaths).
