The mobilization of the people for the tree planting held by the Municipality of Glyfada in the framework of the “All Together We Can” campaign was impressive.
With the ally of the wonderful weather, hundreds of our fellow citizens came to the rendezvous at the end of Metsovo Street, at 11:00 in the morning. Young and old, children with their parents and grandparents went up the path and planted their own tree, making Ymittos a little greener.
The tree planting was attended by the Mayor of Glyfada George Papanikolaou and his sons, as well as the Municipal Councillors for Greenery Stavros Yiakoumakis and Municipal Police George Tavernarakis.
In his statements, the Mayor spoke about today’s action, making special reference to the extensive tree planting program that the Municipality of Glyfada has put in place with the city’s schools and is currently underway.
Specifically, Mr.Papanikolaou stressed:
“With the participation of hundreds of citizens we completed today another tree planting at the foothills of our Hymettus in cooperation with “All together we can”.
We continue non-stop to add new small and large trees from edge to edge in our city.
Our commitment is clear:
More green, better quality of life for all!
The effort does not stop here.
The next 3 months we continue at an intensive pace. We have planned to plant thousands of new saplings in organized tree plantings with our city schools, while spreading the message of ecological consciousness to our little ones.
