Colour, rhythm and confetti of love spread across our city today. More than 2,000 carnivalists participated in the Glyfadiotiko Carnival, with children starring in the beautiful student parade in front of the sea. Inspirational floats, themed groups and wonderful costumes made up the great carnival celebration, conveying the bright message of hope and optimism. The fun took off with the burning of the King Carnival and the concert of the YAKUZA SIX band.
“With the participation of thousands of young and old carnivalists who paraded on the beach of our city, this year’s carnival was a complete success!
A big thank you to all those who worked tirelessly for this year’s event:
To the people of our Municipality and the volunteers, to our partners for the organization and the sound, and of course to all the schools and parents’ associations that gave their best this year!
See you tomorrow morning again at our beach, in front of the old Town Hall, to celebrate together the Koulouma!
We expect you all to fly kites, with traditional Lenten food and traditional music.
Happy Lent to all with good health!”, said the Mayor of Glyfada George Papanikolaou.
The responsibility of the organization was held by the Deputy Mayor of Education Annie Kauka and the President of the Municipal Committee of Secondary Education Maria Karabela-Karavousali, with the valuable cooperation of the President of the Glyfada Parents’ Association Maria Douni. The Deputy Mayors Yannis Tzouvelis, Nikos Tsampiras and Yannis Skaltsas, as well as the Deputy Municipal Councillors Stavros Giakoumakis and George Tavernarakis gave their best for the Carnival. Great was the contribution of the Glyfada Parents’ Association and each association separately, the employees of the Cleaning Service, the Department of Education, the Municipal Police, the Civil Protection and the Emergency Response Team (O.AN.E.AN.).
The appointment is renewed for tomorrow, at 12 noon, at Diadochou Pavlou, in the Old Town Hall, where the Municipality of Glyfada will have set up tables for all attendees to enjoy Lenten delicacies, which have been prepared with much love and care by the Social Service of the Municipality, under the guidance of the Deputy Mayor of Social Care and Solidarity Eleni Karachou-Skoutari. See you tomorrow, then!
