The Health Prevention Centre of the Municipality of Glyfada informs residents about the preventive examinations recommended based on international guidelines for the early detection of specific diseases.
The Centre suggests specific medical visits and tests with the responsible doctors, enabling each citizen to proactively safeguard their health. The proposed examinations are, under certain conditions, covered by EOPYY. Participation of citizens belonging to vulnerable groups is confirmed in writing by the Health Centre staff.
Screening tests are recommended for the following diseases:
– Abdominal aortic aneurysm prevention
– Colorectal cancer prevention
– Breast cancer prevention
– Prostate cancer prevention
– Cervical cancer prevention
– Cardiovascular disease prevention
– Melanoma prevention
Voluntary Blood Donation
The Blood Bank was established by the municipal authority of Glyfada on October 3, 2014, to serve the needs of its citizens. This initiative is part of the municipality’s broader effort to upgrade social services and infrastructure, as well as to promote volunteerism.
The objectives of the Blood Bank of the Municipality of Glyfada are:
To maintain a permanent blood reserve to meet the needs of Glyfada’s residents
To assist in sourcing blood for emergencies when the municipal blood bank cannot fully meet demand
To foster a spirit of solidarity and volunteerism within the local community
Particular priority is given to urgent cases and cases requiring large quantities of blood, especially:
a) thalassemia patients
b) kidney patients
c) haemophiliacs
d) individuals without family support
e) children up to 18 years of age
