The Municipality of Glyfada, through the Department of Information Technology, Studies and European Programmes, has purchased special equipment to combat the pandemic of COVID-19 in areas with high foot traffic, where thorough cleaning and significant reduction of viral and microbial load is required, in the framework of the Act: “Supply of systems and special equipment for the strengthening of civil protection and the administrative – operational capacity of the Municipality, and to address the spread of the pandemic in the Municipality of Glyfada”, which was funded by the Ministry of Interior, through the Development and Solidarity Programme for Local Government “Antonis Tritsis”, under the call AT08, in the Priority Axis: “Digital Convergence”.

More specifically, the following have been installed:

A) Thirty (30) air purification and disinfection systems for the reduction of microbial and viral load (sanitation) in municipal areas. These devices involve specialized machines designed to clean air, surfaces, and objects, using special impregnated filters for the destruction and containment of viruses, bacteria, and particles, as well as the use of UV-C radiation.

B) Fifteen (15) real-time body temperature monitoring systems. This system operates by measuring the infrared radiation emitted by the human body (radiative heat transfer). These devices are designed to measure individuals’ temperature accurately, regardless of ambient temperature. The above integrated body temperature detection system will make a significant contribution to the response to the pandemic, as high body temperature detection has already identified cases that would otherwise have gone unnoticed, particularly in environments with a high risk of transmission (schools, municipal buildings, etc.).
