Ecological, “green”, economical. The largest primary school in Glyfada is being upgraded in terms of energy and is gaining comfortable, sustainable spaces for students and teachers. With the new school year, the students and teachers of the 3rd Primary School of Glyfada will enter a new school!
“Complete energy upgrade at the 3rd Primary School of Glyfada!” stresses Mayor George Papanikolaou.
And explains:
“The largest primary school of our city. And one of the oldest school buildings!
Very energy consuming. Like all old buildings.
We are changing that. Radically!
The work you see will be completed in the summer. And students and teachers will enter a virtually brand new school in September.
We place heat shields everywhere in the building.
We change all the frames.
We replace the fixtures with modern and ecological LED lights.
We put photovoltaic panels on the roof to save energy.
We convert the heating installation (burner, boiler, boiler, HVAC, etc.) to run on natural gas.
All new. All over again. With the most modern specifications.
With work that took months, to be done outside of school hours of course.
This project is financed by European funds, through “KTIROKIAKES YΠODEMES S.A.”.

With the completion of this project, the 3rd Primary School will be literally transformed.
We recall that it did not have a football field. We built it from scratch, with a lot of love, and completely renovated the basketball court.
There was no elevator. We managed to create that too.
We also put air conditioning everywhere. In all the halls.
We continue – especially during this period when the schools are closed – to work and make changes in many of our schools in Glyfada, in order to offer the best possible environment and infrastructure that our children and their teachers deserve.”
