The joy of the sea belongs to everyone ! The Seatrac of Glyfada is back!

Glyfada, for another year, shows its respect and care for accessibility and equality by bringing Seatrac back into operation.
With over 12,000 uses last year, the aim is to continue to offer people with disabilities the pleasure of the sea, safely and independently.
“For us, Seatrac is not just an innovative mechanism. It is living proof of our daily effort to build an inclusive and inclusive society. Because, above all, we create this society through our actions,” said Mayor George Papanikolaou in a post.
“I remember the first year we installed it and some people suggested we put it aside, to ‘not bother’.
Our answer was and remains one: This mechanism must be at the heart of our beach, where it is and should be the heart of our community!
And precisely because it is located in the heart of our beach, with all the provisions and infrastructure, with all our love and care, it has this great response.
It is no coincidence that the Seatrac Glyfada is the most popular machine in Greece every year, with over 12,000 uses last season!
This first place fills us with responsibility, but above all with joy, because we see thousands of people arriving every day from all over the world to use it.
I thank the responsible of our municipal authority Nikos Tsampiras for the construction of the infrastructure and the installation of the mechanism and George Tavernarakis for the coordination. Thanks to our partners at Tobea and personally Ignatios Fotiou”.
The model installation with two special remote-controlled wheelchairs for the unhindered access of disabled people to the sea, operates exemplarily at Glyfada beach, which has become a model of an accessible beach for people with disabilities. The integrated infrastructure includes parking spaces for people with disabilities in front of the beach, a walkway from there to the two Seatrac, special changing rooms, toilets and showers, umbrellas and seating for those using the Seatrac and, of course, support staff with employees of the Municipality of Glyfada and volunteers.
Happy, accessible and smiley summer to all!
