prevention saves lives and the Municipality of Glyfada (Department of Welfare, Social Policy and Gender Equality) honored today with an essential action on the World Heart Day, by carrying out, in cooperation with the Onassis Hospital, a preventive cardiac check-up to dozens of citizens.
“For the third consecutive year, we carried out a preventive cardiac check-up in Glyfada, we thank the citizens for their response and the Onassis Hospital for the excellent cooperation we have. It is very important not to neglect our health and this is what we try to communicate through all these actions that we do at regular intervals, “said the Mayor of Glyfada George Papanikolaou.
The cardiac check was short – it lasted only 15 minutes – and included blood pressure and cholesterol measurements. A cardiovascular risk calculation was then performed based on a European Society of Cardiology programme. The procedure concluded with nursing advice on modifying risk factors according to the measurement results.
The action was coordinated by the Deputy Mayor of Social Care and Solidarity Eleni Karachou – Skoutari, who supervised the smooth conduct of the process, along with the Deputy Director of Social Protection, Education and Sports of the Municipality of Glyfada, Yannis Paragios.
