The most popular Seatrac in Greece are here again this year: in Glyfada! With a record number of uses nationwide and a series of accompanying upgraded infrastructure, they are again ready to make swimming beautiful, easy and comfortable for thousands of our fellow citizens with mobility difficulties. In fact, as announced by the Mayor of Glyfada, George Papanikolaou, a third Seatrac is already being planned!
In his statements, Mr Papanikolaou stresses:
“Seatrac has started again this year in our city!
The first national first for Glyfada came ten years ago.
Since then we have installed a second one, and this year we are already planning the third one!
Every year our beaches break every usage record, attracting thousands of visitors from all over Attica.
But why?
Because for us the “holistic approach” is not just words, but action. Next to the mechanism that enables our fellow citizens with a mobility disability, but also with injuries or any similar difficulty, to enjoy the sea independently, we have created an integrated infrastructure.
We installed special access corridors, accessible showers, umbrellas, chaperone seats and dedicated disabled parking spaces right in front of the beach, taking care of every detail.
The two Seatrac are already in operation this year, making absolute equality a reality.
It is the right of all, without exception, to enjoy equally the benefits of the sun, the sea and the bath, without any exclusion.
I thank for another year the employees of our Municipality for the wonderful effort and of course the head of our municipal authority George Tavernarakis for the coordination.
The municipal beaches of Glyfada and the use of Seatrac remain, of course, free and free for everyone.
Our greatest reward is the big smiles on the faces of people who travel many miles to come to a beach that has been built with effort and care to be truly welcoming for all.”
