The street with the cafes and cinemas became unrecognisable

In Zisimopoulou, where businesses, restaurants and cinemas are located, chaos reigned. It is one of the most central streets of Glyfada, connecting Metaxa with the coastal road. Today it is also one of the most beautiful. Visit it! Take a walk, have a coffee, watch a movie! Open your heart and enjoy your visit to the shopping centre of Glyfada. From today Zisimopoulou is unrecognizable!
“Today we have delivered another major total redevelopment, with its own significance.
Because Zisimopoulou was a road that was a reference point for Glyfada in the past and had reached obsolescence”, stresses the Mayor of Glyfada George Papanikolaou. He adds:
“Many problems, few solutions and difficult.
We put them down one by one. With stubbornness and perseverance. And a lot of work and above all methodical and organized.
To be able – among other things – to complete the redevelopment in a very short time so as not to create a problem for the businesses in the area.
All the shops that had occupied the public space were moved inside, the sidewalks became wider, new cobblestone floors were laid, trees were planted, new lights were installed.
The region as a whole is being reborn. Don’t just stand by the photos you see here.
Visit it, walk around it, go into its shops.
You will see a different perception of public space, of the city and its neighbourhoods.
Our next interventions will soon follow in the shopping centre, in Lazaraki and in the last part of Metaxa, from Pandora to Crete Square.
A big thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who worked on this as well.
We also thank the businesses in Zisimopoulou for their cooperation.
You know that we often hear many people say that some things in our country are not happening. That they never change. “That’s how Greece is”. As if it were written in our destiny or in our root that we will have badly built streets, broken sidewalks, abandoned squares, anarchy and chaos in public space.
This mentality does not suit us. And in Glyfada we have proven it many times”.
