The Jewellery Department of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Glyfada started its operation in June 2022 as a creative workshop, aiming at artistic expression, familiarization with the art of jewellery and the transmission of technical knowledge.
Both beginners, with no previous contact with the subject, and more advanced students participated in the Department, who were able to broaden their knowledge and actively contribute to the collective experience of the group.
They were taught techniques of traditional silversmithing and modern design, introduced to free and digital design (3D printing), learned about the history of jewellery, materials and tools, and familiarized with the basic principles of production, display and costing.
The workshop served as a creative refuge and a practical guide for those who wish to explore or start a new career in the field of artistic jewellery.
The present exhibition presents the works of the members of the group, the fruit of their creative work from the very first day of the department’s operation. Each jewel, a unique narrative.
Each creator, a unique voice in the dialogue between art and matter.
The Cultural Departments of the Municipality of Glyfada operate on the initiative and with the support and care of the Mayor of Glyfada George Papanikolaou.
The responsibility and coordination is the responsibility of the Municipal Councillor for Culture, Georgia Vamvakerou.
The teacher in the Jewellery Department is Konstantinos Galdanidis, a creative man with a passion for his subject.
From today, until Sunday evening, we will admire the creations of our fellow citizens, their small “works of art”. Tomorrow, Saturday, at 8:00 pm is the opening of the Jewellery Exhibition, with live music. Christina Hytiri on guitar and singing, Vassilis Saltikis on saxophone.
Entrance is free.
